If you are a junior, senior, or even a graduated student who has not passed the FCAT Reading or FSA ELA, we have designed the course for you to meet you graduation requirement and receive your high school diploma.
If you have not passed the 10th grade FCAT or FSA
The state of Florida says that you may take the SAT or the ACT and achieve a score that is concordant with the required passing score of the FCAT Reading or FSA ELA.
Taking the SAT in place of the 10th Grade FSA to Meet Your Graduation Requirement
For the SAT, the score you need is a 430 in the Reading and Language and Writing portions, combined, or a 24 in the Reading Subtest.
At College Direct, we have put a program together to help students meet their graduation requirement. This program consists of 10 one-on-one sessions working on reading strategies required to navigate complex text. This SAT program is not like any SAT test prep program in that it is specifically designed from a reading strategies approach and addresses the weaknesses typically seen in students who have difficulty reading advanced level passages and understanding nuances and subtleties of reading critically.
Students who sign up for this course will begin by taking a diagnostic test that assesses and pinpoints their strengths and weaknesses reading college level text. From there, we will put a customized program to target the weaknesses in thinking that are the cause for the breakdown of comprehension.
This Intensive Reading and Language SAT Course will also show students strategies to become a fluent reader, identify the structure of complex text, understand the language of the questions, discriminate answer choices, recognize common grammatical, usage, mechanical error patterns, and rhetorical writing styles of the SAT.
In addition to 10 face-to-face sessions with a reading teacher, the student will have access to College Direct’s online platform for self-paced practice of reading and language skills questions.
If you did not pass the FCAT or FSA, have taken it multiple times, and still have had no luck, this is the course for you.
